Due Process Advocates, DPA, members celebrated Christmas in style as group members exchanged gifts through different mediums amongst members, valued at #18 million.
In a post released by the group founder, Barrister Emeka Ugwuonye, SAN, fondly called ‘Digital Daddy’, Wednesday, on group social platform revealed that group members celebrated the Yuletide by exchanging various kinds of gifts in what they referred as “Santa give away’.
Stressing further, he said the measure to arrive at the #18 million valued exchanged gifts was on the premise of money people received in gift, money admins received as gifts, recharge cards people received, new members registration fee to admin, registration fees paid for others as gifts and in-kind gifts.
The Barrister encouraged members to continue as the Yuletide celebration last.
ESTIMATED 18+ MILLION ALREADY EXCHANGED HANDS WITHIN DPA
To determine the value of the gifts that have exchanged hands, we added up the following:
(1) all the money people informed us they received in gifts.
(2) all the money that came to the Admins as gifts.
(3) the value of all the recharge cards that people received directly,
(4) the value of the recharge card that passed through our Admins.
(5) the value of the registrations paid for by others as gifts.
(6) An estimation of the in-kind gifts
We arrived at 18.6 million Naira so far as having exchanged hands. We did not add the value of the registration fee that was waived. We expect that by the New Year, DPA members would have exchanged with one another gifts worth more than 20 million Naira.
We encourage our members to keep giving. At the same time, we discourage the excessive begging that we have seen. Let the focus be on how to give, and not on how to receive.
