Tribute: Mazi Okwaraocha Goes Home

By Ikenna Ozulumba Mbaegbu

Today, being 22nd of June, 2018 a true Biafran and a real child of Chiukwu-Okike-Abiama has been lowered to the grave.

Mazi Okwaraocha who died after a brief illness on May 17th, 2018 hailed from Obiohia in Ideato South, Imo Province, Biafra Land. His demise left a huge mark, injury and a deep gap in the minds of his family members, children and friends.

When he was alive, I remember his exact words to me on a certain occasion. On that faithful day, he had looked me straight in the face and said, “You see, Mazi Ozulumba, if there’s one thing I desire most in this life, it is for Biafra to be restored. And when that happens, I shall retire from all this hustle and move back to my home town to “REST.””

Sadly, this handsome gallant soldier never lived to see his dream come true, but has really gone, not to his home town as he had envisioned but to his Father in heaven to REST. What a wasted dream! Oh, death why are you so wicked and ruthless?!

This day, I enjoin with other Biafrans to mourn our brother, father, son, and friend, Mazi Venantius Chinedu Okwaraocha who lost his life to the filthy hands of death.

Mazi Okwaraocha, with a heart full of sorrow we regret to say FAREWELL to thee. Go on brother and rest peacefully with thy maker, till the day we all shall meet to part no more!
